Men's and women's yukata and more from Tutaee are now available at BEAMS JAPAN in Shinjuku, Tokyo, in a limited-time shop running until Sunday 24 July 2022. Tutaee is a Japanese brand that develops clothing and parasols while respecting the good old days. Tutaee's yukata have a rich texture using traditional dyeing techniques and a modern design that can be worn like a piece of Western clothing. The yukata variations include "Ao Masu" with a beautiful indigo plaid pattern, the elegant monotone "Ohana", the "Hana Yukata" with a alternate patterns, and the playful "Zebras". The same patterns are available for men and women, so it may be a good idea to enjoy matching outfits. Items other than yukata also appear in the limited-time shop at BEAMS JAPAN. Tokyo Tower, Milky Way illumination Underway

Tokyo Tower illuminate the Milky Way Illumination, a summer-only illumination using LED bulbs to create a summer starry sky, every day from 17 June (Fri) to 4 September (Sun) 2022. The nightscape and the combination with lights add to the seasonal atmosphere and create a cool summer. The total number of illuminations this year is approximately 21,000. The illumination is located on the northern face (towards the Imperial Palace and Marunouchi) of the first floor of the Main Deck (150 m high). The only charge is the observation fee to the Main Deck. The Milky Way Illumination fills the northern ceiling of the first floor of the Main Deck with light. The Milky Way Illumination is a summer tradition unique to the Tokyo Tower, which began in 2004 and is held for the 19th time this year. Leather Kimono by Tomoe Shinohara Wins Tokyo ADC Award

THE LEATHER SCRAP KIMONO, a leather kimono created by Tomoe Shinohara, has become a hot topic, winning international advertising awards. It's now won the 2022 Tokyo ADC Award. This work was jointly art-directed by Tomoe Shinohara and Machi Kagawa, a member of the design studio STUDEO, which she presides over, in collaboration with the Japan Tanners Association. The edges of the leather, which would normally have to be discarded, are made to look like the ridges of a mountain, and beautiful gradations, like an ink painting, are applied to the kimono. Shinohara worked on the production with great respect for the thoughts and technical skills of the craftsmen who have carefully passed on traditional craftsmanship, including tanner Ito Sangyo and sewing company Refans in Soka City, Saitama Prefecture.
