Meisen Kaleidoscope - Masuda Collection

Meisen

The Isesaki City Akabori Museum of History and Folklore is holding the exhibition "Meisen Kaleidoscope - Masuda Collection" at the museum until 28 August, displaying approximately 200 meisen from five major production areas in and outside Gunma Prefecture, including Isesaki Meisen.
The unique and gorgeous patterns of meisen attract visitors.

The meisen on display are approximately 880 items donated to the museum by Osamu Masuda of Kiryu City over a period of two years, and include items from Kiryu City, Ashikaga City in Tochigi, Chichibu City in Saitama and Hachioji City in Tokyo, the five major production areas, with Isesaki City.

In addition to kimonos, haori and fabric rolls, there are futons, doteras, hanten and dresses, which are displayed in four sections: flowers of the four seasons, classic modern, geometric patterns and children's meisen.

The museum hopes that visitors will enjoy the colours and glamour of meisen and bold patterns such as floral patterns.
