Let's walk the streets in kimono

The third Hinomaru Festival will be held on Sunday 20 November 2022.
This festival is an event that brings feelings closer to Japanese culture, tradition and the "Hinomaru (Japanese flag)".
The main event is the Hinomaru Parade, in which various performers parade through the streets with the Hinomaru flag in hand.
Wearing kimono, the parade is a fun and lively walk through the centre of Tokyo while experiencing a variety of Japanese cultural and performing arts.

Hinomaru Parade

The parade starts at Hibiya Park Grand Concert Hall (Hibiya Yaon), passes through the Yurakucho / Ginza and Tokyo Station / Nihonbashi areas, and take approximately 1 hour to reach Tokiwa-bashi Park.
This year, too, the parade will be enlivened by performers such as the flag bearers hoisting the Hinomaru flag, powerful Japanese drum performances, marching bands and the Awa Odori dance.
As in previous years, many people in gorgeous kimonos will also take part.
Come walk happily with us, carrying a small flag of the Hinomaru!

About the Hinomaru Festival

The festival was first held on 17 November 2019 to celebrate the accession to the throne of His Majesty the Emperor and to cheerfully welcome the era of Reiwa. The festival has been well received every year and will be held for the third time this year.

We are moving forward strongly into the future, holding up the symbol of Japan, the Hinomaru flag.
It's with this in mind that this year's Hinomaru Festival will be held.

How to participate in the event
