Background to the opening of Reuse Kimono Wargo

Kimonos are worn less and less in everyday life, and the number of cases where they are disposed of is increasing year by year.
As published by the Ministry of the Environment, the fashion industry, regardless of the kimono industry, is considered to have a very large environmental impact due to its short life cycle, which is an international challenge.

Against this background, the company which operates kimono rentals in seven outlets nationwide, wanted to reduce the waste of kimonos and take action on sustainable fashion.

Therefore, the shop Reuse Kimono Wargo, which offers more than 1,500 second-hand kimonos in the shop for reuse of handmade fabrics and for reuse to those who kimono fans, is open for a limited time on the 3rd floor of Kitasenju Marui from 2 September and on the 2nd floor of Ueno Marui from 3 September.
