Call for Participants in "Nagahama Kimono Grand Garden Party"

The Nagahama Kimono Grand Garden Party Steering Committee is inviting participants for the garden party to be held in the Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture, on 8 October.

Due to typhoons and the coronavirus pandemic, it will be held for the first time in four years. This time, the event will be open to anyone in a kimono, not just women in furisode.

There will be a raffle to win a luxury kimono made of Hama-Chirimen, a Nagahama speciality, as well as tea ceremonies at various locations in the city, including Keiunkan, competitive karuta playing at Nagahama Hachimangu Shrine and a Japanese-themed sweets marché.

If you are dressed in a kimono, you can enter the Nagahama Castle History Museum, Nagahama Railway Square and other tourist facilities in the city for free, as well as various other special offers in various places in the city.

On the same day, eight floats from the Nagahama Hikiyama Festival will be paraded through the city.

The application deadline is 1 October.

Simple Japanese clothing such as happi coats and samue aren't eligible.
