88% of Respondents Haven't Worn Kimono more than 3 Years

Purchase Comparison Channel jointly run by Across Solutions Inc. and Hamaya Corporation, conduced a survey of 2,411 men and women aged 20 and over on their attitudes towards kimonos.

How many people have ever bought a kimono? And when was the last time they wore a kimono?
If you own a kimono, do you ever sell it?

As a media specialising in buy-and-sell, the aim to gain an understanding of the actual situation of whether unwanted goods can be sold and what people do when they no longer need things, and to provide hints for the use of buy and sell services adapted o changing lifestyles.

Q1 Have you ever bought a kimono?

58.7% had never bought a kimono.
By gender, more women than men answered that they had bought a kimono.
Perhaps because more women wear kimonos for coming-of-age and graduation ceremonies, a higher proportion of women answered that they had bought or received a kimono.

Q2 When was the last time you wore a kimono?

The highest proportion of respondents (87.9%) said that the last time they wore a kimono was more than three years ago.
They found that the overwhelming majority of people don't have many opportunities to wear kimonos.

Q3 How many kimonos do you have at home?

63.0% didn't own any kimonos.
By age group, those in their 50s had less than 10 kimonos, while those in their 60s had more than 10 kimonos, a higher proportion than those who said they had none.

Q4 Have you ever sold a kimono?

56.2% of respondents knew that kimonos could be sold but had never sold them.
The result was that 28.3% of respondents didn't know that kimonos could be sold in the first place.
