With the aim of promoting the value of Japanese kimono, a treasure of Japan, both at home and abroad, the Kyoto Museum of Traditional Industries will hold the exhibition "Japanese Dyeing and Weaving Exhibition" from Tuesday 26 July to Sunday 28 August 2022, bringing together kimono, obi and other kimono products that are the pride of each production area. During the exhibition, various events will be held to enable visitors to experience dyeing and weaving.

Around 30 kimonos and obis from traditional kimono production areas all over Japan
The National Council of Municipalities of Japanese Traditional Clothing Production Areas, which is made up of municipalities with traditional kimono production areas across the country, work closely together and cooperate with each other to develop new markets and train successors in their respective production areas, and activity promote other initiatives.
One of its activities is the exhibition "Japanese Dyeing and Weaving Exhibition".
This year, approximately 30 kimonos, obis and other kimono products from each of the council's member production areas will be gathered at the Kyoto Museum of Traditional Industries.
A number of workshops and demonstrations to experience dyeing and weaving
During the exhibition, workshops will be held where visitors can experience the skills of craftspeople, and demonstrations will be held where visitors can see craftspeople's techniques up close.
There will also be live performances on Instagram by the director of the Museum of Kyoto Traditional Industries. All of these events can be attended without prior application, so please feel free to attend.
