Project o change the landscape from the rooftops of unused. Blue sky Renaissance's Higashi-Shinmachi Marche collaborative project, following last year's event, it'll be held during Tanabata Star Festival with the theme Rooftop and Yukata.
Blue Sky Renaissance is a project that uses rooftops to transform the urban landscape. Currently, the rooftops are rented out for regular events, and a small urban park is set up on the rooftops as a place to eat takeaway.
The location has been moved from the previous Meieki café collaboration to Shin-sakae, in collaboration with Higashi-Shinmachi Marche. Blue Sky Renaissance will be held on the rooftop of Dairei Kogyo Co.
Last year's Rooftop and Yukata has been expanded in scale, with the addition of Kimonoyarn's wind chimes and a painting workshop.
*Painting experience is available after purchase of the kit. (2,000 yen incl. tax)
What's Kimonoyarn?
These are handmade materials made from reclaimed kimonos that are no longer worn, discarded or lying in chests, and upcycled for use in handmade crafts such as knitting, weaving and accessory making.
The kimonos are untied, washed and stretched, cut into threads to prevent fraying and joined, and most of the processes are done by hands.
We envision a bustling scene dotted across the city sky, where Nagoya's rooftops become a feature of the city and a new element to add to the city's lack of tourist attractions.
We want you to experience your usual city from a different environment and feel the possibilities of rooftops.
Why not enjoy the cool of the evening in a yukata and spend time on the rooftop?
Admission: Free (Please come in yukata)
